Symbol of Romance: Inauguration of the Kiss Bridge in Phu Quoc !

The Kiss Bridge, located in the village of Hoàng Hôn on Hòn Thơm Island, was inaugurated on December 22, 2023, with the ambition of becoming a new tourist symbol in Phú Quốc, Vietnam.

Designed by Italian architect Marco Casamonti, the bridge draws inspiration from both Michelangelo's artistic masterpiece 'The Creation of Adam' and the ancient Vietnamese legend represented by the Ô Thước Bridge.

Michelangelo's painting "The Creation of Adam" depicts God giving life to Adam, symbolizing the creation of man according to Genesis. This nearly connected touch evokes the transmission of life from God to man, expressing the relationship and responsibility of man towards God.

The legend of the Ô Thước Bridge tells the story of a loving couple: the boy was a mortal, and the girl, a fairy. Their love was hindered by a vast river, preventing them from being together. Out of compassion, every year, birds gathered to form a bridge, enabling them to reunite.

The Kiss Bridge comprises two sections, North and South, spanning 810 meters in length and built with a total steel weight reaching 5,000 tons (equivalent to half the weight of the steel used to build the Eiffel Tower in Paris).

The bridge has a remarkable feature with a distance of approximately 30 cm between its two ends. According to the architect, this distance is perfect for a hug, a handshake, or a kiss. It has been calculated so that every January 1st, the setting sun aligns exactly in the middle of the bridge.

The Kiss Bridge is expected to boost Phú Quốc's tourism on a global scale, aiming to become a remarkable architectural piece, similar to the impact of the Golden Bridge (in Đà Nẵng) on Vietnamese tourism.
