What are Yi Peng and Loy Krathong?
Yi Peng and Loy Krathong are two Buddhist festivals celebrated simultaneously in northern Thailand. They take place around the full moon of the 12th month of the Thai lunar calendar.
Yi Peng involves releasing floating lanterns into the sky, symbolizing the transition from darkness to light according to the Lanna culture of the north.
